How an Energy Broker Works
The short answer
BASR Power is an independent commercial electricity broker. A bill review and quote costs you nothing, and you never receive an invoice from us. If you sign a contract, the electricity provider pays us.
What we do
1. Look at your bill. You send a recent electric bill (a photo or PDF works) and your ESID, the number that identifies your meter. We review your usage and demand.
2. Get prices. We collect bids from many retail electric providers (REPs) so they compete for your account.
3. Show you your options. You see the bids side by side, with rates for 12, 24, 36, 48 and 60 months, with the terms in plain language.
4. Help you decide. We point out the contract end date, early-termination rules and renewal notice window before you sign.
5. Watch your renewal. We track your contract end date so you aren't surprised by a default rate.
Every commercial account gets a dedicated BASR representative. You deal with a person who knows your account, not a website or a call center.
BASR is not a utility and not a retail electric provider. We don't sell power. Your electricity is still delivered by your local utility, and you still get one bill.
How we get paid
- You pay BASR nothing for the review or the quote. No retainer, no consulting fee, no line item on your bill.
- If you sign, the REP pays BASR a commission for bringing it the account. The commission is built into the price you are quoted, so the rate you see already includes it.
A broker's commission is a normal part of how REPs price commercial contracts. We don't promise savings. Every figure we show you is an estimate until you sign.
Questions to ask any broker
These are good questions for us too.
- Are you registered with the Public Utility Commission of Texas? What is your number?
- How many providers will bid on my account?
- Will you review the contract term, early termination and renewal rules with me?
- Who do I call after I sign?
Frequently asked questions
Do I pay BASR directly? No.
Will I get a separate bill from BASR? No. You get one electric bill from your provider. Your local utility's delivery charges (CenterPoint, Oncor, AEP Texas or TNMP) are part of it, as they are today.
Do I have to switch after I get a quote? No. The review and quote carry no obligation.
What do you need from me? Your company name, contact details, a recent electric bill and your ESID.
Who is a good fit? Texas businesses with commercial electric accounts. Send a bill and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
